indigenous psychology services.
Hi! Boozhoo! I am grateful to be a new visitor to Mohkinstsis (Calgary). As a provisionally certified school psychologist based in Winnipeg (2021– 2023), I provided culturally sensitive psychoeducational services to eight First Nations communities throughout Manitoba. Although I am most comfortable in a city context, I crossed the 53rd parallel into many First Nation communities, including the gorgeous Dene Territory bordering Churchill. My time as a rural, travelling clinician was truly humbling and fuelled my desire to continue working with Indigenous Peoples—in schools, in community, and in private practice.
My professional work continues to be informed by my lived experiences as an urban Anishinaabe-kwe, undergraduate training in First Nations and Indigenous Studies, as well as my ongoing relationships with my best friends, kinship circles, Knowledge Keepers, and Elders.
I believe in the wholeness and goodness of people, where we each play differing yet important roles in society, all with responsibilities to each other and those around us. I love working with Indigenous youth and adults in creative, future-oriented, and dream-focused ways. Together, we will honour and centre your inner world, focus on your existing resiliences, and re-story the complex, trauma-based experiences you may have experienced. I look forward to hosting you at Riverwest Therapy Collective and talking over tea, healing, humour, and authenticity.
“Even a wounded world is feeding us. Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy. I choose joy over despair. Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily, and I must return the gift.”
